This Supermileage vehicle was built during the 2006-07 competition year. The chassis and body were completely 3D modeled using Autocad. Yes, plain old Autocad can do 3D modeling! The chassis was only ¾” 16 gauge mild steel tubing. The body was made out of .032” thick aluminum sheet. It utilized a solid front end with rack and pinion steering, with a rear swing arm suspended using a Cane Creek AD-5 air shock. We were going to manufacture a polycarbonate canopy, but we ran out of time. The vehicle was only 9 feet long, but could accommodate a driver over 6 feet tall. #54 took first place in concept class at Road America and second place at Fox Valley Technical College. |
