#36 Supermileage

#36 Supermileage was a completely new vehicle for the 2003-04 competition year. The car had a full aluminum chassis. It also had a full polycarbonate canopy and a jackshaft assembly to center the engine within the chassis. This jackshaft assembly proved to be the week link by flexing the aluminum frame so much that the drive chains would fall off.

For this car, we also tried a Comet torque converter system. Although this system gave the vehicle great acceleration and hill climbing ability, it did so at the expense of fuel economy.

Due to the extreme flexing of the chassis, this vehicle was retired after one year.
