This electrathon racer was built during the 2007-08-competition year. Although this vehicle looks like our NAPA racer, it’s completely different. The chassis of this vehicle was constructed from 1” mild steel tubing. The students did all the fiberglass work on this vehicle. It utilized a solid front end with rack and pinion steering, with a rear swing arm suspended using Cane Creek AD-5 shocks. The vehicle utilized a Briggs and Stratton ETEK running NAPA batteries at 24 volts. This electrathon had issues with battery running time. At the end of the year, this electrathon was dismantled. During this procedure we noticed two loose battery connections. Advice to other teams… checks ALL connections for proper torque!
This vehicle took first place in maneuverability at the electrathon challenge held at Road Amercia.
