Electrathon is a lot like a supermileage vehicle but with one major change - the sole power of the vehicle can only come from two 12 volt sealed automotive batteries. Electrathon has been popular on the East and West coasts along with Iowa. The races last for an hour and the winner is the team with the most laps completed in that hour. The competition also focuses on other areas to name an overall grand champion.
The Engineering & Manufacturing Academy started construction of their first official electrathon cars during the 2004-2005 school year. We've had a great time racing our fellow competitors, especially the Bayfield team.
Two years ago we designed a concept electric street racer (ESR) to see if there is any interest in developing a four-wheeled street legal tired vehicle. Last year we also designed an extreme racing vehicle (XRV) with the same goal in mind when creating the ESR, to start a competition for street legal, four-wheeled vehicles.
We welcome anyone interested in getting involved in the electrathon competitions in Wisconsin to get in contact with us. We are more than happy to help!
