Semester Update
Welcome to the Del Tech Racing team. A special thanks goes to our sponsors of New Tech Metals and DeLeers Millworking from Green Bay, Wisconsin. We are building our first Formula High School race car in Engineering Design & Development class. Our goal is to have the car running and completed by the beginning of April.
We will be using a 16 hp V-twin engine by Briggs & Stratton. Also, we are using the original VW assembly for the front spindle. The chassis of the car is a close replica of the Mystique car made by Sugar Groove Custom Cars. The car will be geared to have the top speed of about 60 miles per hour. The car that we are building will cost about $3000.

January Update
As of January 20, 2009 the car is on the verge of being finished. We now have spindles mounted, the brakes almost finished, and the front tires in the shop. While working on the front end we encounter a problem with the previous design on the steering links and is currently working on getting it fixed. While in the back end of the car we finished up the exhaust, and started on the wiring system. But while extending the wires, we forgot to unplug the battery. Due to this we blew out both ignition coils. All in all we have had our ups and down and fixed to the best of our abilities.
January – February to do list
- Finish steering
- Run Brake Lines
- Mock up Throttle
- Run Fuel Lines

November Update
During the month of November, Del Tech Racing mainly focused on the front and back-end of our car. One of our major goals for this month was to get our car on rubber. We achieved this goal. We have finished our front axle and have started on the throttle and brakes. We are also getting our seat cut out by New Tech Metals, and hope to have it installed soon. Also the team has worked on the back-end assembly; this month our axle, motor, gas tank, sprocket, and brake caliper are all mounted on. The next big projects we will accomplish are the exhaust, intake, throttle and brakes, and the steering. Our car is coming along nicely and the team can’t wait till it is burning rubber

It is on rubber and is finally starting to look like a car.

October Update
Our team’s sponsors for this new competition are New Tech Metals and DeLeers Construction. This is a picture of the required cockpit for this competition. We are required to design a front-end assembly that can be removed, along with the back end assembly. The back axle will also be removable. The project is just getting under way and our team is very excited to get started.

We work week by week here is our progress.
This is week 1:
In the first week our team has started putting the square tubing portion of the cockpit together.

This is week 2:
In the second week we got our roll bars bent and welded up. We also are starting to put some of the cross bracing in.
This is Week 3:

In the third week we got the rest of our cross bracing for the chassis completed and started on the back end. |
